Dominique Thompson Signs One-Year Deal with Carolina Panthers

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Former William and Mary All-American wide receiver Dominique Thompson signed a one-year NFL free agent contract with the Carolina Panthers on Friday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Prior to signing with the Panthers, Thompson, a 2005 graduate of the College, had spent the last three seasons as a member of the St. Louis Rams practice squad.

Thompson, who was a four-year letter winner for the College between the 2001 – 2004 seasons, established W&M single-season standards for receptions (79) and receiving yards (1,585), in addition to bringing in 13 touchdown catches as a senior. He posted six 100-yard receiving games in during the magical 2004 campaign, including a single-game, school-record 244-yard performance at Delaware on Oct. 23. In that game, Thompson also tied a W&M single-game record with four touchdown receptions.

Thompson earned multiple individual postseason honors as a key components in a Tribe attack that averaged over 430 yards and 34 points a contest during the 2004 season. Thompson helped power the squad to a 11-3 final record, a share of the A10 Title and a school-record No. 3 seed in the NCAA Championship field by leading the conference in seven different categories, including passing yards, passing efficiency and total offense.
