Williamsburg - The William and Mary men’s tennis team garnered the No. 43 spot in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Rankings, released on Jan. 8. The Tribe is coming off an impressive 16-12 campaign that included an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships. The tandem of senior Alex Cojanu and sophomore Keziel Juneau was ranked No. 32 in the national doubles rankings.

The Tribe will once again play a loaded schedule with 15 of its 23 matches against nationally ranked foes, including five against top-25 opponents. The Tribe will play the top two teams in the national rankings in No. 1 Virginia and No. 2 Georgia along with matches against No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 15 Wake Forest, No. 22 Boise State, No. 26 South Alabama, No. 31 VCU, No. 32 Rice, No. 38 Old Dominion, No. 41 Minnesota, No. 57 Georgia State, No. 59 Western Michigan, No. 65 Northwestern, No. 73 Harvard and No. 74 Brown. Those matches do not include the Tribes participation in the Blue Gray Tennis Classic for the 10th straight season. All 16 teams that will take part in the event are in the national rankings, including 13 in the top 45 nationally.

Cojanu and Juneau are 4-3 on the year with all three losses coming to teams currently ranked in the national top 50. Two of those defeats were at the hands of teams currently ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the national standings. The Tribe tandem’s marquee win of the fall campaign came against Matt Bruch and Blake Muller of Stanford at the ITA All-American Championships. The Cardinal pair was ranked No. 2 nationally at the time of the match.

The College opens 2008 spring campaign at the South Florida Invitational, Jan. 11-13. The Tribe will be joined in the three-day event by the host Bulls, Memphis and Florida A&M. The Tribe opens the home portion of its schedule with a doubleheader on Friday, Jan. 18. W&M will face Temple at 3 p.m., before battling Richmond at 7:30 p.m.
