No. 15 Tribe Hosts No. 21 Wake Forest

Williamsburg - After splitting a pair of matches on the opening weekend of the dual-match season, the No. 15-ranked William and Mary women’s tennis team will open the home portion of its slate when it welcomes No. 21 Wake Forest to the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26. It will be a rematch of the Williamsburg NCAA Regional Final from a season ago, when the Tribe downed the Demon Deacons, 4-1, to advance to the Round of 16.

The Tribe opened the year with a 5-2 victory at Michigan State on Jan. 19, before dropping a 7-0 match at No. 7-ranked Northwestern the following day. In the win over Michigan State, the College took the top five singles slots to secure the victory. Senior Megan Moulton-Levy (No. 1), junior Kat Zoricic (No. 2), sophomore Ragini Acharya (No. 3), junior Klaudyna Kasztelaniec (No. 4) and sophomore Magdalena Bresson (No. 5) all claimed individual wins in the road triumph.

Wake Forest opened January playing in the Virginia Invitational, but will open the dual-match portion of its schedule against the Tribe in Williamsburg. The Demon Deacons are ranked No. 21 nationally and are led by senior Alexandra Hirsch, who is ranked No. 75 nationally. Last season, the Tribe earned a pair of victories over Wake Forest, knocking off the Demon Deacons, 5-2, in Winston-Salem, N.C., during the regular season, before tallying a 4-1 win in the NCAA Tournament.

W&M will travel to No. 39 Virginia on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 4 p.m. The Tribe returns home when it hosts No. 68 Princeton at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m.
