Three from W&M Compete in CNU Weight Throw

Trio of Sophomores All Break 45 Feet

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Three of William and Mary’s men’s throwers competed in the weight throw Friday evening at the CNU Captain’s Invitational, and all cleared 45 feet with the 35-pound implement.

Sophomore Adam Gawne (Lyndonville, N.Y.) had the College’s best mark, throwing 45’ 5” to finish fifth overall. Right behind him was classmate Alex Ball (Winchester, Va.), who had a personal-best throw of 45’ 3” for sixth place. Rounding out the trio of sophomores, Brandon Oliver (Richmond, Va.) took seventh with a throw of 45’ 0.25”.

Tomorrow finds the Tribe men’s track and field team at two events. The pole vault corps will continue competition at the Captain’s Invitational beginning at 12 p.m., while the rest of the team will compete at the George Mason Patriot Games, beginning at 10 a.m. in Fairfax, Virginia.
