Shriver set a personal-best height in the day’s competition, clearing 6’ 8.75” to move past teammate Brandon Evans (Virginia Beach, Va.) to stand alone with the eighth-best performance in school history. Evans, who has already met the IC4A-qualifying height this season, took second with a leap of 6’ 6.25”. Evans also took second in the long jump with a distance of 21’ 1.5”.

Also earning runner-up honors was sophomore Dan Klatzkin (Gaithersburg, Md.) in the shot put, with a personal-record put of 48’ 9”. Classmate Brandon Oliver (Richmond, Va.) was third with a put of 46’ 11.5”.

In the 60m hurdles, redshirt-freshman Chad Cochran (Centreville, Va.) turned in a pair of personal-best showings to place fifth overall. In the preliminaries, Cochran timed 9.02 seconds to qualify for the finals, and then turned on the jets to clear the course in 8.97 seconds, the seventh-best time in school history. Freshman David Blitzer (Haworth, N.J.) had the College’s 10th-best performance ever in the 60m dash, running 7.52 seconds.

Also on Saturday, the pole vault corps competed in Newport News, Virginia, at the CNU Captain’s Invitational. Sophomore Kiernan Lofland (Crozier, Va.) won the event after clearing a height of 15’ 3”.
