NEWPORT NEWS, VA - In a neutral-pool match-up on Friday night, the William and Mary men’s swimming and diving team was unable to capitalize on the momentum gained from sweeping the two relay events and fell to Old Dominion, 108-190. The Tribe fell to 4-5, 2-3 CAA, while the Monarchs completed a perfect season, 10-0 and 5-0 in the CAA.

W&M jumped ahead early, winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:37.57. That team included David Mangini (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), Jason Brisson (Richmond, Va.), Nader Amer (Yorktown, Va.), and Andrew Quesenberry (Kingsville, Md.). Amer also provided the closing spark needed to win the 400 free relay, out-touching ODU’s Patrik Balint with a split of 46.47 as the team won in 3:10.03. Joining Amer on the relay was Kevin Gallagher (Bridgewater, N.J.), Shawn Matthews (Rumson, N.J.), and Michael Naccarelli (Wallingford, Pa.).

Brisson also chipped in individually, winning the 200 breast in 2:10.08. The victory gives him 38 in his career, tied for third-most in school history. Grad student Nick Duda (Vienna, Va.) posted the Tribe’s other individual victory, winning the 50 free in 21.70 seconds to earn his 26th career tally.
