Williamsburg - In its final preparation before competing in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, the No. 15-ranked William and Mary women’s tennis team swept No. 71 Princeton, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. W&M improved to 4-1 on the year, while the Tigers fell to 3-1.

W&M swept the doubles to clinch the initial point of the match. The sophomore pair of Ragini Acharya and Lauren Sabacinski got things started quickly for the Tribe claiming the No. 3 tandems spot, 8-1, over Sarah Hoffman and Kristen Scott. The College’s top pair of senior Megan Moulton-Levy and junior Kat Zoricic, which is ranked No. 46 nationally, iced the doubles point with an 8-2 triumph over Ivan King and Melissa Saiontz. The junior tandem of Klaudyna Kasztelaniec and Barbara Zidek defeated Blakely Ashley and Sarah Huah, 8-4, at the No. 2 position to complete the sweep.

Acharya quickly made it 2-0 with a resounding straight sets win at the No. 3 spot. The No. 55-ranked player nationally defeated Huah, 6-0, 6-0, for her team-leading 17th win of the year. In the marquee match-up between nationally ranked foes, Moulton-Levy, ranked No. 12 in the country, defeated No. 36-ranked Saiontz, 6-0, 6-2, for her 12th win overall and the seventh against a ranked opponent this season. Playing in her second straight match at the No. 6 slot, sophomore Carmen Pop tallied an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Kelly Stewart to clinch the Tribe victory.

Zoricic, Kasztelaniec and Sabacinski rounded out the Tribe sweep with wins at the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Zoricic rallied after dropping the first set, 6-4, to breeze past King, 6-0, 10-3, in the final two sets for her 10th win of the year. Kasztelaniec improved to 12-5 with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win over Ashley at No. 4. Sabacinski won her second straight at No. 5 in upping her season win total to 15 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hoffman.

W&M will return to action at the ITA National Indoor Team Championship, Feb. 8-11, in Madison, Wis. The field consists of 13 of the top 15 teams in the country and the bracket will be released on Monday, Feb. 4. It marks the 12th time W&M has competed in the event.
