Tribe Notches Pair of Victories in Saturday Doubleheader
W&M will host No. 65 Northwestern on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m.

Williamsburg - The No. 45 ranked William and Mary mens tennis team downed Norfolk State and George Mason on Saturday in a doubleheader at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Tribe improved its overall record to 8-3 and is 2-0 in CAA play.
The Tribe started the day off with a 5-2 victory over the Norfolk State Spartans. William and Mary notched the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots. Junior Alex Zuck and freshman Varun Pandit set the tone with an 8-2 victory over the team of Roman Del Castillo and Keenan Ruff at the No. 3 position. Freshman Sebastien Vidal and junior Marwan Ramadan clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 victory over Vassil Zahariev and Bogdan Yordanov in the No. 2 spot.
The Tribe got the singles matches started off with straight-set victories at the bottom three positions. Freshman Ben Gullickson made quick work of Ruff 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position for his first collegiate dual-match victory. Pandit defeated Del Castillo at the No. 5 slot, 6-4, 6-2 while senior Kavi Sud downed Bogdan Yordanov at No. 4, 6-3, 6-0. Ramadan finished off the Tribes victories with a 6-2, 6-4 dismissal of Vassil Zahariev at the No.2 position.
In the second match of the day, the Tribe downed CAA foe George Mason, 7-0. The teams of Zuck and Pandit as well as Vidal and Ramadan stayed perfect on the day, each earning victories of 8-0 over the Patriots teams of Matthew Vaughn and Martin Brown, and Anastas Budagov and Harwood Hoskins, respectively. The Tribes No. 1 pairing of Gullickson and Sud defeated George Masons Brian Fitzgerald and Daniel Schneider, 8-4.
In singles, the Green and Gold swept all six matches in straight sets. Playing in the No. 1 position, Vidal defeated Fitzgerald, 6-1, 6-3, while Ramadan finished off Budagov, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2. In the No. 3 slot, Zuck defeated Schneider, 6-3, 6-1, as Kavi Sud notched a victory over Harwood Hoskins, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 4 position.
Freshmen Gullickson and Pandit finished their perfect day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Matthew Vaughn and a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Zack Schneider at No. 5 and No. 6 respectfully.
W&M will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, February 10 as the College will face No. 65 Northwestern at 11 a.m. at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. It will be the Tribes only match of the day as the match with Howard, which was originally scheduled as part of a double header tomorrow, has been rescheduled for April 11 at 6:30 p.m., as part of a doubleheader with South Alabama on the Busch Tennis Courts.
