Brandon Evans’ IC4A Qualification Leads Tribe at CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Senior high-jumper Brandon Evans (Virginia Beach, Va.) tied his career best Saturday at CNU’s Vince Brown Invitational, re-qualifying for the IC4A Championships with a height of 6’ 8.25” to lead the William and Mary men’s track and field team in a full day of action. Complete results were unavailable immediately following the meet Saturday night.

Results to Four Places

Senior Ian Fitzgerald (Glenshaw, Pa.) was one of two event winners for the Tribe, timing 4:14.76 to win the mile. Also victorious on the day was sophomore Kiernan Lofland (Crozier, Va.), who jumped 15’ 5” to take the pole vault.

Runners-up included Evans in the high jump; senior Karl Lang (Oak Hill, Va.) in the mile, running 4:19.59; and freshman Brian Sklodowski (Newark, Del.) in the 3,000m, running 8:42.55. Sophomore Charlie Swartz (Manassas, Va.) gave the Tribe a sweep of the top three places in the mile, timing 4:20.61. Sophomore Brandon Oliver (Richmond, Va.) was third in the weight throw, recording a best-mark of 48’ 6.25”, and junior Jared Campbell (Franklin, Ind.) was fourth in the 3,000m after running 8:46.38.

The Tribe is back in action next weekend, February 16, with the Chick-Fil-A Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
