Tribe Ranked in National Top 20 for Fourth Straight Week

W&M garnered the No. 16 national ranking in the ITA poll released on Feb. 12.

Williamsburg - For the fourth straight week to open the 2008 season, the William and Mary women’s tennis team garnered a ranking in the national top 20. The Tribe came in at No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Rankings released on Feb. 12.

William and Mary went 1-2 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Feb. 8-11. The College dropped a 4-1 match to No. 7 Miami (Fla.) in the quarterfinals, before dropping a heartbreaking 4-3 match to No. 14 Notre Dame in the consolation bracket. W&M wrapped up the event with a 5-2 win over the host Wisconsin. Following its performance at the National Indoors, W&M is 5-3 on the year.

The College returns to action when its will host a trio of matches at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center, Feb. 15-18. W&M welcomes No. 24 Arkansas to Williamsburg on Friday, Feb. 15, at noon. The following day, the Tribe will face No. 64 Colorado at noon, before battling Harvard on Monday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
