Tribe Gymnast Tricia Long Tabbed By ECAC

Senior Earns First Gymnast of the Week Award

Williamsburg - William and Mary senior Tricia Long (Humble, Texas) was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Gymnast of the Week on Wednesday for her outstanding performance in the Tribe’s meet at New Hampshire over the weekend. Long shared the award with Marissa Rosen of Penn.

Long continued to be one of the Tribe’s most consistent and dependable scorers on Saturday night at UNH, finishing fourth in the all-around at the competitive four-team meet with a final tally of 38.300. She was just shy of her career-best all-around score of 38.400 set as a sophomore in 2006. Long also was the team’s highest scorer on floor, recording a 9.650 to place 12th in the event.

The senior added a season-high score of 9.550 on beam and matched her season-high on bars as well with a 9.650 to earn a tie for 10th place in the event. A 9.450 on vault rounded out Long’s all-around total.

The gymnast of the week award was the first for Long, who had previously been honored with the coaches choice award and rookie of the week award back in 2005, the same year she earned the ECAC Rookie of the Year honor.

Long was the second Tribe gymnast to be tabbed by the ECAC this season, as freshman Melissa Cream (West Windsor, N.J.) was named the rookie of the week on Jan. 30 for her performance in the Tribe’s meet at West Virginia.
