Sellers' Career-High Eight Goals Leads Tribe Past Longwood, 22-16

Farmville, Va. - William and Mary senior Jaime Sellers (Kennebunk, Maine) went off with a career-high eight goals and added an assist to lead the Tribe past Longwood, 22-16, in collegiate women’s lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.

Sellers surpassed her previous career mark of five goals, set last year against the same Longwood squad, and added the helper for a career-high nine points.

Freshmen Maggie Anderson (Richmond, Va.) and Grace Golden (Manhasset, N.Y.) recorded identical six-point afternoons, as the pair each scored five goals and added an assist to help lead the Tribe to a 2-0 start. Anderson and Golden have combined for 24 points in the Tribe’s two season-opening victories.

Fellow freshman Ashley Holofcener (Reisterstown, Md.) added a goal and three assists for four points, and rookie netminder Emily Geary (Wayne, Pa.) turned away 13 Longwood shots in recording her second victory in goal.

Dolly Williams (Richmond, Va.), Katie Rees (Catonsville, Md.) and Mary Zulty (Jarrettsville, Md.) all had goals in the win as well.

Golden grabbed a team-best seven ground balls and caused three turnovers. Freshman Sarah Jonson (Dallas, Texas) also caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls, and Holofcener forced three turnovers and snagged two ground balls. Clare Dennis (Catonsville, Md.) caused three turnovers as well.

Sellers paced the Tribe with six draw controls, and freshman Emma Starnes (Richmond, Va.) added three draws.
