BLACKSBURG, VA - William and Mary’s men’s track and field team finished competition at the Virginia Tech Challenge Saturday, adding another IC4A-qualification to the season’s haul.

Senior Ian Fitzgerald (Glenshaw, Pa.) took second in the 3,000m run with the team’s season-best time of 8:19.48 qualifying for the IC4A Championships in two weeks. Charlie Swartz (Manassas, Va.) was fourth in the event, timing 8:31.73.

Also of note, senior Brandon Evans (Virginia Beach, Va.) was fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6’ 6.75”. Sophomore Patterson Wilhelm (Lynchburg, Va.) was eighth in the mile with a time of 4:13.58, just behind the IC4A-standard for banked-track performances.

William and Mary has one more shot at earning IC4A-qualifying marks when it travels to George Mason next Sunday, March 2, for the Mason Last Chance Invitational.
