Women’s Golf Stands Ninth After First Round of Cuthbert Cup

Oldenkamp, Whitney Tied for 22nd

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - William and Mary’s women’s golf team opened the spring season at the Cuthbert Cup on Sunday, shooting 309 (+21) to stand ninth in the field. The College of Charleston opened the three-day tournament in the lead at 287 (-1). The players are tied with the individual clubhouse lead after rounds of three-under 69.

First Round Results

The Tribe was led jointly in the round by senior Erika Oldenkamp (Hinsdale, Ill.) and freshman Sarah Whitney (Hingham, Mass.), who each turned in rounds of 75 (+3) to stand tied for 22nd. Sophomore Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) is tied for 41st after shooting 79, and freshman Katie Murphy (Chesapeake, Va.) is one stroke back in a tie for 49th. Senior Marissa Sprick (Windermere, Fla.) rounded out the Tribe effort in a tie for 65th.

The Cuthbert Cup continues tomorrow before finishing with a final round on Tuesday.
