Tribe Falls at No. 3 Georgia

Athens, Ga. - The William and Mary men’s tennis team fell at No. 3 Georgia, 7-0, to wrap up its Spring Break trip on Wednesday afternoon. The College fell to 11-7 overall on the year, while the Bulldogs improved to 11-1.

Georgia claimed the opening point of the match in doubles with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, but the W&M tandem of senior Kavi Sud and freshman Sebastien Vidal continued to roll at the No. 3 slot. The duo won its sixth straight match, downing Drake Bernstein and Josh Varela, 8-5. Sud and Vidal upped their season ledger to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in dual matches.

In singles action, the Bulldogs took all six spots in straight sets. Georgia entered the match ranked No. 3 nationally and is the defending national champions. The Bulldog lineup features five nationally ranked singles players.

W&M will have a week off before taking part in the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala., March 13-16. The event will include 13 other nationally ranked teams along with the Tribe. The other teams competing in the four-day event are No. 12 Tulsa, No. 15 Notre Dame, No. 18 VCU, No. 21 Alabama, No. 23 Auburn, No. 27 Oklahoma State, No. 30 Texas Tech, No. 35 Oklahoma, No. 40 Boise State, No. 42 North Carolina State, No. 45 Fresno State, No. 62 Wisconsin and No. 64 Penn State along with unranked Furman and Brown.
