Cam Shriver Wins High Jump Title at IC4A Championships

BOSTON, MASS - The first time was the charm for junior high-jumper Cam Shriver (Oxford, Ohio) at the IC4A indoor championships on Sunday, claiming the IC4A title in his first trip to the meet. Georgetown won the team championship, 86-67 over Liberty. William and Mary used four All-East performances to finish tied for 19th with 14 points.

Complete Results

Shriver was one of three jumpers to clear the bar at 6’ 10.75”, but won by needing fewer attempts than either of his competitors. He becomes the first Tribe athlete to ever win the high jump at the IC4A indoor championships, and ranks as the fifth-best high-jumper in school history with the personal-best effort. Shriver’s height was also the first time since 1995 that a Tribe jumper has reached higher than 6’ 10”. His clearance also qualifies him for the NCAA East Regional in May.

Also earning All-East honors on the day was junior David Groff (Centreville, Va.), who finished seventh in the 1,000m run with a time of 2:28.01. Sophomore Cabell Rosanelli (Richmond, Va.) earned his first All-East award by finishing eighth in the same race in 2:28.77. Sophomore Ben Massam (Chatham, N.J.) finished the scoring for the Tribe by finishing eighth in the 5,000m with a season-best time of 14:30.20. By virtue of his top-eight finish, Massam earned his first All-East honor.

Other participants for the College on Sunday were sophomore Patterson Wilhelm (Lynchburg, Va.), 12th in the 5,000m in 14:43.84; senior Dave Mock (Johnstown, Pa.), 15th in 14:48.13; and sophomore Charlie Swartz (Manassas, Va.), 19th in 15:12.14.

William and Mary will await word on possible invitations to the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 14-15 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
