Brandon Parker Tied for 10th after First Round of First Market Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary freshman Brandon Parker (Auburn, Mass.) shot a collegiate-best 72 Monday to open the First Market Bank Intercollegiate in a tie for 10th place. While his score didn’t count for the team, the Tribesmen that did combined to shoot 18-over par (302), and stand tied for 10th with Towson University. Francis Marion University shot a 2-over 286 on The River Course at Kingsmill to lead the team standings, while Andy Whalen of St. Bonaventure’s and Mark Sommerfield from Detroit each shot 68 to tie for the individual lead in the clubhouse.

Senior Jimmy Femino (Manassas, Va.) posted the top score for the College’s team aggregate, and stands tied for 16th with a 73. Conor O’Brien (Weatogue, Conn.) and Jonas Miller (Dallas, Texas) each came in with 74s (+3) to tie for 24th, and Doug Hurson (Bethesda, Md.) rounded out the team effort with an 81. Competing as individuals, senior Joel St. Laurent (Nashua, N.H.) shot 82 and sophomore Andy Roach (Vienna, Va.) shot 84.

The tournament concludes with one round tomorrow.
