Katie Radloff 34th on First Day of NCAA Championships

Times Second-Fastest 50 Free in School History

COLUMBUS, OHIO - William and Mary sophomore Katie Radloff (Arlington, Va.) picked up almost exactly where she left off last year at the NCAA Championships, timing 22.86 seconds in the 50 free for 34th place in the preliminary session.

Her time is the second-fastest performance in school history, and her own career, behind only the 22.61 seconds Radloff swam three weeks ago to win the CAA title. The performance could also bode very well for her prospects in later races this week, as last year she opened the NCAA Championships with a 63rd-place finish in the 50 free, improving to 48th and 32nd in the 200 free and 100 free, respectively, both races she’s entered in again this season.

Radloff will take to the water again tomorrow morning in the preliminaries of the 200 free. The preliminary session starts at 11 a.m., and the 200 free is the third event.
