Kara Siford Tied at Ninth after First Round of First Market Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary senior Kara Siford (Manassas, Va.) shone brightly Saturday morning for the Tribe, shooting 76 (+4) on a difficult Marsh Hawk course at Ford's Colony to stand tied for ninth after the first round of the First Market Bank Intercollegiate. Marshall University posted the day's top team score with 305 (+17), while Georgetown's Chelsea Curtis and Bradley's Bari-Lynn Erais are tied for the individual lead at 2-under (70). As a team, William and Mary stands tied with Bucknell for 12th with a score of 327 (+39).

Siford, competing as an individual, is one of three players tied for ninth at the end of the day. Freshmen Sarah Whitney (Hingham, Mass.) and Avi Hockfield (Gladwyne, Pa.) each shot 80 and are tied in a group at 29th. Senior Misha Harvey (Forest, Va.) is tied for 36th with 81, and classmate Erika Oldenkamp (Hinsdale, Ill.) is one stroke back at 10-over (82), in a tie for 45th.

Sophomores Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) and Brielle Paolini (Virginia Beach, Va.) are tied for 64th after rounds of 84, and freshman Katie Murphy (Chesapeake, Va.) shot 86 to tie for 86th. Senior Marissa Sprick (Windermere, Fla.) carded 87 and is tied for 89th, and freshman Megan Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) shot 89 to stand 99th. Junior Ellie Costello (Wilmette, Ill.) rounded out the Tribe's effort Saturday with a 98.

The tournament concludes with one round of play tomorrow.
