Tribe Lax Set to Host Pair of West Coast Programs

W&M will Host No. 10 Stanford Tuesday, Cal-Berkeley on Friday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The College of William and Mary’s women’s lacrosse squad is set to host a pair of west coast programs this week, starting with 10th-ranked Stanford this evening (March 25 at 7:00 pm) and a Friday matinée match-up with the University of California-Berkeley (4:00 pm).

The Cardinal will be making its first visit to Williamsburg, while it will be the Bear’s second all-time appearance (with the last coming in 2004). The game will be the third all-time meeting between Cal and the Tribe, with the teams splitting the first two meetings.

The game this evening will be the College’s fourth consecutive contest against a nationally ranked opponent and its fifth overall in the last seven games. The Tribe will be looking to put an end to its current six-game losing streak, that has included three games that have been decided by four, or fewer goals.

The two games this week mark the end of the grueling non-conference schedule for the College. Starting with its much anticipated re-match at conference rival James Madison, next Friday, April 4, the Tribe will play all of its remaining seven games against Colonial Athletic Association foes.

The College is led into the evening’s action by senior midfielder Jaime Sellers, who currently leads the CAA with 34 goals and 37 total points. Sellers also leads the league in shots per game, with an average of 7.75, and is tied for second with 2.88 draw controls per game.
