Women's Tennis Ranked No. 24 Nationally

Williamsburg - The William and Mary women’s tennis team moved up one spot to No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings released on March 25. The Tribe went 2-0 last week with easy wins over Marshall, 7-0, and Penn, 6-1, to bump its season mark to 11-8.

It marks the eighth week this season that the College has garnered a national ranking in the top 25. The Tribe has played a daunting schedule that includes 11 matches against the top 30 teams in the country. In fact, all eight of the Green and Gold losses have come to teams currently ranked in the national top-22, including No. 1 Northwestern, No. 2 Baylor, No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 California, No. 14 Miami (Fla.), No. 17 Texas, No. 19 Notre Dame and No. 22 TCU. W&M does have a pair of wins over team currently ranked in the national top-16 with victories over No. 13 Arkansas, 4-3, and No. 16 Fresno State, 5-2.

On the strength of a three-match winning streak, the Tribe will host No. 36 Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday, March 29. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start time at the Busch Tennis Courts in Williamsburg. It will be the first CAA match of the season for the College.
