Alex Heacock Named CAA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

RICHMOND, VA - Reigning Colonial Athletic Association javelin champion Alex Heacock (Lititz, Pa.) opened his season in a big way over the weekend, qualifying for the IC4A Championships and earning CAA Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Heacock threw 194’ 10” to take second at the Fred Hardy Invitational, just shy of his personal-best effort of 196’ set last year. In fact, his effort over the weekend was the third-best throw of his career, and his best opening to the season so far. Last year, Heacock won the CAA title by nearly 25 feet.

William and Mary returns home this weekend, April 4-5, to host the 43rd Annual Colonial Relays. Running and jumping events will be held inside Zable Stadium, while throwing events will be held at the Stimson Throwing Events Area, northwest of the stadium by Fraternity Row. The schedule for the meet, lists of participating schools and All-Americans, and lists of past event champions can be found on the William and Mary website at http://www.tribeathletics.com/story.php/6652/.
