Men’s Basketball Player Leaves Tribe Program

Williamsburg, Va. - William and Mary men’s basketball coach Tony Shaver announced that freshman guard John Sexton (Myrtle, Miss.) has left the Tribe program.

“John Sexton is no longer a member of our men’s basketball program,” Shaver said. “I believe he will pursue other playing opportunities, and we will support him however we can in that process. I appreciate his contributions to what was a very successful season for our program and wish him the best of luck in his future.”

Sexton played in 28 games for the Tribe this past season, averaging 2.5 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

W&M enjoyed one of the best seasons in the program’s history during the 2007-08 campaign. The College advanced to its first-ever Colonial Athletic Association Championship Game, coming within a game of the program’s first bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Tribe also finished with 17 victories, which was the sixth-most in school history.
