Tribe Moves to No. 21 in ITA Rankings; Moulton-Levy Named CAA Player of the Week
The Tribe moved up three spots in the ITA National Rankings, while Megan Moulton-Levy earned her 13th career CAA weekly honor.

Williamsburg - The William and Mary women’s tennis team continued to move up the national ranking and senior Megan Moulton-Levy was named the Colonial Athletic Association Singles Player of the Week. The College moved up three spots to No. 21 in the ITA computer rankings released on April 2, while Moulton-Levy earned the league honor for the second time this season and the sixth time in her career.
Moulton-Levy, who is ranked ninth nationally in latest ITA singles rankings, was selected as the CAA women’s tennis Player of the Week after defeating No. 42 Tatsiana Uvarova of VCU, 6-1, 6-4 as the Tribe’s victory over Rams. It was the 13th victory over a ranked opponent this season for Moulton-Levy, who improved to 24-6 in singles. She also moved into a tie for third on W&M’s all-time singles wins list with 117. Combined with singles and doubles, Moulton-Levy has received a CAA weekly honor on 13 occasions during her career.
The Tribe was ranked in the ITA National Top-25 for the ninth week this season. The College tallied its ninth win over a nationally ranked opponent over the weekend, downing then-No. 36-ranked VCU, 5-2. The win bumped the Tribe’s ledger to 12-8. The College has played a tough schedule in 2008, including 13 matches against the national top 40. W&M’s ledger included matches against No. 1 Northwestern, No. 4 Baylor, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 California, No. 11 Miami (Fla.), No. 14 Arkansas, No. 16 Fresno State, No. 19 Texas, No. 20 Notre Dame, No. 24 TCU, No. 32 Wake Forest, No. 38 VCU and No. 40 Virginia.
Along with Moulton-Levy earning the No. 9 spot in the ITA Singles Rankings, sophomore Ragini Acharya was ranked No. 114 in singles. She leads the Tribe in singles victories with 26. The College had a pair of doubles teams in the national rankings. Moulton-Levy and junior Kat Zoricic, who were the 2007 NCAA Doubles runner ups, garnered the No. 16 spot, while Zoricic and Acharya were ranked No. 46 nationally.
W&M returns to action with a road match at Old Dominion today at 4 p.m. The contest will be played at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center in Norfolk. The College will wrap up the regular season with Senior Day against Richmond on Wednesday, April 9, at 3 p.m. in Williamsburg.
