Cojanu, Pagon Garner Second CAA Weekly Honor

W&M was ranked No. 63 in the ITA computer rankings released on April 2.

Williamsburg - Senior Alex Cojanu and junior Dominic Pagon received the Colonial Athletic Association Doubles Team of the Week for the second time this season. The pair garnered the honor earlier this season on March 16, before earning the distinction on April 2. The Tribe also garnered the No. 63 national ranking in the ITA computer rankings released on April 2.

Cojanu and Pagon were named the CAA men’s Doubles Team of the Week after recording their second straight victory over a nationally ranked opponent. The Tribe duo defeated No. 51 Sebastian Ripoll and Emil Lindgren of VCU, 8-6, allowing W&M to clinch the doubles point. The doubles win was the 94th in Cojanu’s career, which ranks second in school history. Cojanu and sophomore Keziel Juneau were also ranked No. 39 in the ITA Doubles Rankings released on April 2.

Despite claiming the doubles point against No. 29 VCU, the Tribe dropped its first CAA match of the season, 5-2, to the Rams in Richmond. The College is 12-10 overall on the year and 4-1 in the CAA. W&M returns to action this weekend when it travels to South Bend, Ind., for a pair of matches. The Tribe will meet Western Michigan on Friday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m., before facing the No. 34-ranked Irish at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 6.
