Megan Moulton-Levy Garners Top-10 National Ranking

Williamsburg - Senior women’s tennis player Megan Moulton-Levy moved up one spot to No. 8 nationally in the ITA computer singles rankings released on April 13. W&M, as a team, garnered the No. 26 spot in the latest ITA computer rankings, while sophomore Ragini Acharya joined Moulton-Levy in the ITA singles rankings at No. 114. The College also had a pair of doubles teams in the national top-45.

Moulton-Levy and junior Kat Zoricic moved up five spots to the No. 11 spot in the ITA rankings. The pair has won eight straight matches as a team and currently sits at 25-7 overall. The pair owns wins over both the current No. 1 and No. 3 ranked teams in the country this season. Zoricic and Acharya are also ranked in the doubles standings at No. 43 after completing the fall at 8-4.

Moulton-Levy’s singles ranking marks the second time this season she has garnered the No. 8 spot in ITA poll. Her highest ranking of the year was No. 7 during the fall season. Moulton-Levy is riding a six-match winning streak and stands at 26-6 overall on the year. All six of her losses have come to players currently ranked in the national top 7. Acharya remained at No. 114 in the ITA singles rankings. She currently leads the Tribe with 28 singles victories on the year.

The top-seed Tribe will begin defense of its CAA Championship on Friday, April 18, in the quarterfinals against the winner of No. 8 seed James Madison and No. 9 seed George Mason. W&M’s quarterfinal tilt is slated for a 2 p.m. start time at the Huntington Park Tennis Center. The winner will meet either No. 4 seed Georgia State or No. 5 Delaware in the semifinals at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. The CAA Championship Match is schedule for 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 20. The winner of the league title will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. W&M will look for its 20th CAA title in the 23-year history of the league.
