Conor O’Brien Tied for Fourth After First Round of CAA Championships

WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary’s men’s golf team opened the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Friday with a team score of 298 (+14) to stand seventh with two rounds remaining. Drexel is the surprise leader in the clubhouse after shooting 288 (+4), one stroke ahead of Georgia State. Joel Sjoholm, ranked as high as fourth in the nation, holds a two-stroke lead after shooting a 6-under 65.

Tribe sophomore Conor O’Brien (Weatogue, Conn.) is one of four individuals tied at fourth after shooting 70 (-1). Junior Brent Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) is tied for 11th after shooting 73 (+2), and classmate Doug Hurson (Bethesda, Md.) is tied for 23rd with a round of 75 (+4). Senior Jimmy Femino (Manassas, Va.) is tied for 46th, and freshman Brandon Parker (Auburn, Mass.) is tied for 50th to round out the team’s effort.

The CAA Championships continue tomorrow as William and Mary tees off starting at 10:41 a.m.
