Kaylor Selected to VaSID All-State Second Team

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary senior forward Kyra Kaylor has been selected to the Virginia Sports Information Director’s (VaSID) All-State Second Team. The honor marks the third consecutive season that she has garnered all-state accolades. After being chosen as the Player of the Year as a sophomore, she earned second-team honors last season.
A first-team all-conference selection, Kaylor finished the 2007-08 season ranked second in the Colonial Athletic Association in rebounding (8.4 rpg) and fourth in scoring (14.4 ppg). She also ranked among the conference’s top 10 in defensive rebounds (second), free throw percentage (fifth) and field goal percentage (ninth).
Perhaps the greatest player in the program’s history, Kaylor finished her career as W&M’s all-time leading scorer (1,873) and rebounder (1,124), ranking third all-time in the CAA in both categories. Additionally, Kaylor holds the school record for games played (124), field goals made (609), free throws made (558 – also a CAA record) and free throws attempted (716), while ranking among the program’s top 10 in scoring average (15.1 ppg), field goals attempted (1,332), minutes played (3,841), three-point field goals made (117), three-point field goals attempted (323), three-point field goal percentage (.362), free throw percentage (.747), offensive rebounds (328), steals (216) and blocked shots (107).
The most-decorated player in the program’s history, Kaylor earned first-team all-conference honors three times during her career. As a sophomore, she became the first player in school history to be honored as the CAA Player of the Year. In addition to her outstanding play on the court, she also distinguished in the classroom and in the community. As a senior, she was one of just 30 players in the nation selected as a Lowe’s Senior Class Award nominee. She also became the program’s first recipient of the prestigious Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.
