W&M Volleyball Receives Commitment From Brooke Bauernfeind

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary volleyball head coach Melissa Aldrich Shelton has announced a commitment from Brooke Bauernfeind to join the Tribe program for the 2008 season. Bauernfeind is W&M’s second commitment for the upcoming season, joining incoming freshman Anne Dorff.

A four-year letterwinner at Broad Run High School for head coach Susan Dezzutti, Bauernfeind posted an outstanding senior season and earned first-team all-state honors. The Ashburn, Va., native also garnered first-team all-region accolades and was selected to the all-district first team in ’07.

"Brooke is an accomplished player who will immediately add offense to our deep pool of left side hitters," Shelton said. "She hits a heavy ball and has recently been working on her finesse shots. She has loads of potential to be a significant player for us during her career."

As a junior, Bauernfeind earned first-team all-district recognition, while she was a second-team all-district selection as a sophomore.

A three-time team MVP, Bauernfeind also distinguished herself in the classroom and earned the Scholar Athlete Award all four years.

Bauernfeind was a member of the VA Elite 16s-18s club team and helped the squad claim three regional championships.

In addition to her successful volleyball prep career, Bauernfeind also lettered three times with the BRHS tennis team. A member of the squad’s No. 1 doubles team, she advanced to regionals in ’06 and helped the team claim the district championship with an undefeated record in ’05.
