Former Tribe Standout Jaime Sellers (’08) Advances to Second Round of Tryouts for U.S. Developmental Team

-

BALTIMORE, Md. - Former William and Mary lacrosse standout Jaime Sellers (’08) is among 64 players who have advanced to the second round of tryouts for the 2009-10 U.S. women’s developmental team.

The second round of tryouts will be held Aug. 1-2 at the University of Maryland - Baltimore County.

One of the greatest players in the program’s history, Sellers finished her career ranked tied for fourth on the College’s all-time goals scored list (118). Additionally, her 137 career points ranked just outside W&M’s all-time top-10 list.

Sellers was one of the nation’s most productive players as a senior in 2008, as she earned first-team all-conference and second-team all-region honors. The VaSID First-Team All-State honoree established a single-season school record for goals (66) and led the Colonial Athletic Association in goals per game (3.47), game-winning goals (5) and shots per game (7.47). She also ranked second in the conference in points per game (3.89) and was third in draw controls per game (2.42). The Kennebunk, Maine native’s goals per game average ranked 13th in the country.

Sellers was instrumental in the Tribe’s success in ’08, as the team registered victories in eight of its final 11 contests to earn the No. 1 seed in the CAA Tournament. W&M also finished the season with a ranking of 20th nationally in the final IWLCA/Under Armour Poll.

In addition to excelling on the field, Sellers distinguished herself in the classroom and was selected to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
