Junior Logan Billbrough Caps Great Summer with 2.2 Shutout Innings

Cotuit, Mass. - William and Mary junior pitcher Logan Billbrough finished off a fantastic summer in the Cape Cod League with a championship, helping his team, the Bourne Braves win their first league title.

After the Braves took the first game of the best-of-three series, 15-5, Bourne was looking to close out the Cotuit Kettleers on their home diamond. After Cotuit took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, the Braves answered with three runs in the top of the third to take the lead.

After tacking on runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-1 lead, the Bourne starter was removed with just one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. In to the game came Billbrough, who not only got the Braves out of the inning, but would go on to pitch 2.2 shutout frames, striking out a pair of batters. The Braves would go on to win the game and the championship, the team’s first title in 44 years.

Billbrough’s performance in the championship game put an exclamation point on his summer. The Tribe pitcher was nearly unhittable, posting a 1.30 ERA on his way to a 4-1 record. The rising junior pitched 27.2 innings out of the bullpen for the Braves, striking out 38 hitters.

With the summer drawing to a close, Billbrough and the rest of the William and Mary Tribe baseball team will return to Williamsburg in preparation for the 2010 season. For the latest news on Tribe baseball, be sure to check TribeAthletics.com.
