Jordan's IC4A-Throw Highlights Vince Brown Invitational for W&M Men's Track

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The William and Mary men's track and field team continued the indoor season Saturday in Newport News, competing at the Vince Brown Invitational. The highlight of the meet for the Tribe was an IC4A-qualifying effort in the weight throw that won the event.

Complete Results

Weight Throw
Junior Zach Jordan (Dublin, Ohio) provided the fireworks in the weight throw, blowing more than three feet past his personal-best to win the event with a toss of 55-11.75 (17.06 meters). The effort qualified him for the IC4A Championships for the first time in his career, and improved him to fourth all-time at the College. Senior Alex Ball (Winchester, Va.) was less than an inch behind his own personal-best in taking second, throwing for 52-0.5 (15.86m).

55m Hurdles
Chris McIntosh (Owings Mill, Md.) and Matt Clark (Richmond, Va.) each qualified for the finals in the 55m hurdles, and combined to produce a pair of all-time top-10 performances. In the prelims, Clark ran a career-fast 7.93 seconds to tie for 10th all-time, matching the time put up by McIntosh in December. In the finals, it was McIntosh's turn to drop the hammer, clearing the course in a personal-best 7.89 seconds to tie for ninth all-time at the College. Clark also improved his best time in the finals, finishing 12th overall in 7.91 seconds.

Pole Vault
Senior Doug Zimmer (McLean, Va.) continued his solid indoor campaign by taking fourth in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 14-5.25 (4.40m).

Shot Put
Rounding out the notable performances for the Tribe was senior Dan Klatzkin (Gaithersburg, Md.), who took fourth in the shot put with a put of 46-6 (14.17m).

William and Mary returns to action next weekend with a pair of meets on tap. The majority of the squad will compete Friday in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the Liberty University Invitational, while the top runners will chase NCAA qualifications across the country at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington.
