RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Nick Thompson (pictured, above) and freshman Nick Brown (pictured, right) were each honored with Colonial Athletic Association weekly awards, announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Thompson, who took home his second CAA Player of the Week award, had a strong week, hitting .647 (11-for -17), with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs. He also scored eight runs in four games. In the game against Va. Tech., Thompson went 2-for-2 with four walks and a home run. He picked up two more hits in the first game against Campbell, driving in one and scoring two more runs. The Chesapeake, Va. native went 2-for-4 in game two of the series with a run scored. However he saved his best game for last, going 5-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored in the series finale against Campbell. It was the first five hit game of the season for a Tribe player. He leads William and Mary with a .418 average.  

Brown, who earned his first CAA Rookie of the Week honor, had the best outing of his young career last Tuesday against Virginia Tech.  The freshman pitched 6.2 innings of scoreless baseball against ACC rival Virginia Tech. He picked up three strikeouts, while scattering just four hits, and holding Tech hitters to a .167 batting average against. For the season, Brown has a 1.84 ERA, with a 2-0 record, with nine strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched.

The duo becomes the third and fourth W&M players to be honored by the CAA for weekly awards. Thompson was already named CAA Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 17, while junior Jason Inghram earned CAA Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of March 3.

William and Mary is the midst of a season-long 10-game home stand at Plumeri Park, and returns to action on Wednesday, March 12 against in-state rival Richmond. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
