The William and Mary field hockey team proved that sevens are lucky this week with the release of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association academic honors, winning both team and individual accolades. For the seventh year in a row, the Tribe appeared on the team list for having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and W&M also had seven athletes appear on the individual lists for having a GPA over 3.30, the seventh year in a row of at least seven honorees.
Leading the way once again was senior
Taylor Hodge (Louisville, Ky.), who was picked to the NFHCA All-Academic list for the fourth year in a row. Hodge, a first-team All-CAA selection at forward this past fall, has also been picked as the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She led the team with 10 goals this season, and also had a pair of assists and a defensive save to help preserve the 2-1 upset win over No. 5 Virginia.
The Tribe's other six honorees are all first-time award winners. Redshirt-senior
Adriana Peratsakis (Williamsburg, Va.) was a walk-on goalkeeper who joined the team in the spring, and saw 26 minutes of action against Michigan. Redshirt-junior
Navneet Singh (Auckland, N.Z.) played all 19 games with 12 starts on the defensive line, and scored both a goal and an assist. Four freshmen also earned mention, including CAA All-Rookie team member
Maria Pastor (Burke, Va.). Pastor had two goals and an assist on the season, and fellow forward
Olivia Hajek (Charlottesville, Va.) added four more goals and another assist, including two game-winning tallies. Two-sport standout
Mary Flick (Moorestown, N.J.) saw action in 11 matches with one start as a reserve midfielder, and
Katie Roe (Devon, Pa.) redshirted the fall.
