Will Rhymes Inducted into W&M Athletics Hall of Fame

Will Rhymes enjoyed a four-year standout career for Tribe baseball. He finished his career appearing in 173 games with 154 starts, adding a .352 batting average, 33 doubles, 11 triples 14 homers, and 105 RBI. 
 
The Houston, Texas, native's best statistical season came during his senior year when he hit .413 with 92 hits 10 doubles, four triples, six homers, and 47 RBI.  His hit total (third) and average (sixth) all remain among the top-10 single-season efforts in school history.
 
For his career, Rhymes ranks in the top-15 all-time in batting average (11th), runs scored (14th), most hits (12th), most triples (sixth), sac files (14th), and stolen bases (10th).  After his senior season was named to the ABCA All-East Region and was selected for the CoSIDA Academic All-District-Team. Rhymes was a two-time All-CAA selection for his career, as well as earning a pair of VaSID All-State honors.
 
Following his Tribe career, the Detroit Tigers selected him in the 27th round of the 2005 draft. Rhymes made his major league debut with Tigers on July 25, 2010. He played parts of three seasons in the big leagues with the Tigers and the Tampa Bay Rays playing 130 games with .266 batting average. He retired from professional baseball following the 2014 season.
 
Rhymes currently serves as the Assistant Director of Player Development for the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He is married to former W&M soccer alumnae Anna Pawlow '06 and the couple resides in Alexandria, Va.
