Randy Bracy, Adam Hess Inducted into W&M Athletics Hall of Fame

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary Athletics inducted its Hall of Fame Class of 2018 on March 24. Former Tribe men's basketball standouts Randy Bracy '99 and Adam Hess '04 were among the nine student-athletes and one team to earn the prestigious distinction. Randy Bracy graduated as one of the top all-around point guards in school history.  Bracy graduated as W&M's 12th-leading scorer with 1,229 career points, and still ranks 20th.  Additionally, he remains the Tribe's career leader in steals per game with 1.9, while ranking second all-time in assists per game (3.8) and total steals (175). His 351 career assists places him sixth, all-time, in W&M history, while Bracy sits in ninth in 3-pointers made (171) and attempted (495), and seventh in minutes per game (32.4).
 
Bracy played a pivotal role in helping the Tribe to a 20-win season in 1997-98.  He was named first-team All-District after the campaign, becoming the Tribe's first, first-team honoree since 1950.  Additionally, he was selected as W&M's first, first-team All-CAA honoree that year as a well and remains one of only five men in school history earn first-team All-CAA distinction. 

He started his career by earning CAA All-Rookie team in 1996, then was named to the CAA All-Tournament team during the 1997 championships, after leading W&M to the conference semifinals for the first time since 1988. 

Bracy led the Tribe in assists for three-straight seasons (1996-98) and scoring in each of his last two years on campus.  Additionally, he lead W&M in steals all four years, including 1997-98 when he had a school record average of 2.2 per game.

After graduation, Bracy went on to earn a Masters in Sports Administration and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.  He has since gone onto to serve four years in Florida's House of Representatives and currently is a sitting Florida State Senator. 

He is the proud father of London Dream and Brooklyn Love Bracy.

Adam Hess, 2004

One of the top players ever to take the hardwood for William & Mary, Adam graduated as the only two-time First Team All-CAA selection in W&M history (2003 and 2004) – and one of only five W&M players to ever earn first-team distinction from the league.
 
A transfer into the program from Eastern Michigan in his sophomore season, he ranks 15th in W&M history, scoring at 1,341 points.  Hess led the CAA in scoring as a senior in 2004, ringing up 20.3 points per game, which also ranked him 22nd nationally and is eighth in W&M history.   He averaged better than 20 points per game in each of his final two seasons and his scoring average of 20.1 ppg in 2003 ranked 39th nationally and is 11th in W&M history.  His career scoring average of 17.9 ppg at W&M ranks sixth in school history.
 
He was a two-time First Team NABC All-District selection (2003 and 2004) and the VaSID State Player of the Year in 2003 (and earned VaSID All-State honors in both 2003 and 2004).
 
A true scholar-athlete, Hess was a two-time Academic All-American (Second Team in 2003 and First Team in 2004) and was named as the 2004 NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship Award winner. Additionally, he was a two-time CAA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2003, 2004) and a three-time CAA All-Academic Team choice (2002, 2003, and 2004).  
 
After graduation, he went onto a long and successful professional playing career throughout Europe. Since retiring from the professional ranks, he and his wife, Julia, live in St. Petersburg, Florida, with their two daughters, Emily and Lexi.  Their family enjoys traveling and spending their free time outdoors; biking, going to the beach or doing some type of water related activity.  Adam works in wealth management with UBS.
